Daniel was born in Penang, Malaysia before moving to the the UK as a four year old, whilst Ross is originally from Sydney. 

Ross first came to Mevagissey almost 30 years ago. "It was a drizzling weekend in the middle of winter and I still vividly recall walking through the narrow streets down to this beautiful harbour and being genuinely enthralled. Fast forward to 2015, and Daniel and I were looking  to return to either the UK or Australia after a decade in Asia. I remember saying to Daniel, what do you think about living in Cornwall?"

Daniel explored online and thought it looked idyllic, so they booked a quick trip back to the UK to check out Cornwall; a two day mid-winter visit to Mevagissey was all it took to plant the seed that this was the perfect place to set up their new home. 

So in 2016 they packed up their lives in Penang and moved back to the UK, heading down to Meva to view a few properties before visiting an amazing old building in the middle of the village, yet just feet from the harbour. The Old Antique Shop was an institution in Mevagissey and had been owned by the same family for almost 80 years. And behind the shop facade was the most incredibly characterful building oozing charm and history; just a couple of steps inside the front door was enough for them to decide that this was going to be their new home. 

It would need a lot of vision and a huge amount of work (and expense!) but the finished product is something truly special. 

Daniel is responsible for the distinctive interior design that draws out the character and charm of Quayside, hinting at his Oriental heritage through the subtle Asian furnishings whilst giving a nod to the building's seafaring past. "What guests will experience is a building of enormous character and history that possesses the comfort, style and modern conveniences that even the fussiest guest could demand". 

Daniel and Ross love nothing more than sharing their amazing property with guests. "I still get a buzz from people's first reaction to Quayside, and nothing gives me greater pleasure than thinking we helped make our guests' break in Mevagissey just that little bit more special", says Daniel.
